Music 2021-2022
Year Four have composed ternary form music using their class theme of
Roman Crime and Punishment to create rhythmic patterns.
They are a gruesome lot!
Thank you to Mr West at St Wulstan's Catholic Church
for a most enjoyable presentation of the church organ.
Year Four had a great time and we learned a lot!
Year Five and Year Six are enjoying learning
to improvise and perform music using ipads.
Thank you to Mr Wilcox and the team at MAKE SOME NOISE.
Congratulations to our Recorder Ensemble who performed so confidently at the Recorder Festival at the Victoria Hall.
Our peripatetic music pupils and Orchestra performed brilliantly at our first live concert for three years!
Thank you to all staff who teach the pupils and thank you to parents for your support.
Congratulations to Year Five on their excellent performance
at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre as part of the Manchester Camerata The Twits project.
Year Three enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year
by performing their Dragons Dancing pentatonic composition
to Nursery and Reception children.
Many thanks to Richard and Sarah from Manchester Camerata
who visited Year Five to compose songs for The Twits concert in March.
Here are the demos below.
Year Four have been learning about the tonic sol-fa scale.
They used hand signals to instruct their partners which notes to perform on their glockenspiels. Then they sang Do-Re-Mi!
Nursery read the story of Hansel and Gretel.
They played the breadcrumbs game -
counting the piles of breadcrumbs to perform beats on their woodblocks.
Nursery children responded through movement to Antonio Vivaldi's Winter music.
They moved like floating snowflakes to the quieter music, and then thought of warming-up actions when the music got louder.
Year One went on a sounds walk listening for long and short sounds.
Year 6 have been learning about World Music traditons.
They identified instruments used to perform traditional English folk songs, sang Scarborough Fair and
had a go at Morris dancing!
Year 4 performed Viking Rock using their Junk Orchestra as percussion accompaniment.
Nursery and Reception have explored sounds on the theme of Harvest.
They all learned to sing 'Harvest Time Song'.
Hattie and Mason in Reception added two extra verses -
can you hear which foods and actions they have chosen?
Year 1 listened to Kerry Andrew's No Place Like and identified the sounds in the music.
Then they went on their own Sounds Walk around the school.
They used the sounds they heard on the walk and body percussion to create their own composition of
No Place Like.

Year 2 have been exploring Long and Short sounds.
They thought of lots of animal noises and described them as Long or Short.
They then performed them as a rap.
Year 2 enjoyed using their voices expressively and creatively
to perform Red Riding Rap to their Year 1 audience.
