Welcome to the Reception class web page. Here you can find further information about life in reception class. If you have any questions or queries please contact me.

Each term, the children have a Big Question, which all their learning centres around, and they will explore and answer. The Big Questions are based upon Catholic Social Teaching.  The Big Question for the Autumn term is Who am I?

Children learn through carefully planned play, based upon their current interests as well as the Big Question. They experience a range of child led, child initiated, adult initiated and adult led activities throughout the day.

RE

Our Virtues for this term are: Compassionate and Loving followed by Faith-filled and Hopeful.

The children will continue to learn about God and Jesus following the Birmingham Diocesan Curriculum: Discerning Disciples, which begins with Creation and Covenant then moves onto Prophecy and Promise.

The children also will listen to a variety of Bible stories, learning about key people in the Bible and why they were important and relevant to us today, linking with our Big Question.

Reception have their own class prayer:

Let us thank you O Lord,

For this wonderful day.

Help us as we learn and play,

Help us to be kind to all

And catch us when we fall.

Teach us to love and pray

As we move through the day.

Amen

The children also learn a variety of prayers through our prayer of the month. Our prayer of the month for September is the Sign of the Cross, which is a prayer. The children will be learning the actions to make the Sign of the Cross.

All the prayers the children will be learning in class can be found at the top of the page.
